Saturday in Hollywood...
So today i was meant to take 'Turns' class, but decided to take the day off and just do touristy stuff around Hollywood. One of the workstudies from Millenium, Christina, picked me up with some of her friends, Liz and Aislin and we drove round the corner to the Hollywood Boulevard. Saw the Kodak Theatre (where the Oscars and all that are held), the Chinese Mann Theatre (where celebrities put their hand prints in the ground) and of course, the walk of fame with all teh celebrities' stars embedded in the ground. That was kinda it, bit of an anticlimax really. I think the Hollywood Boulevard is more renowned for it's nightlife, nothing really spectacular during the daytime. Had my first glimpse of the 'HOLLYWOOD' sign on the hills, but they dont light it up - how lame is that! Was introduced to the California Pizza Kitchen restaurant... its funny, in LA, everytime you're served by a waiter/waitress.. you always wonder what they're real job out in LA is, cos they're all actually struggling actors/dancers/models! If you ask them it's really interestign hearing their stories, how they packed a little bag and came out to LA to try and make it as a star!

Later that evening Went down to the 'Geisha Lounge'..one of the more famous restaurants in Hollywood (it's Ashton Kutcher's restaurant).. was super funky decor. Went with Jeile (the producer I met in NY) and her friend, whom I also met in NY, Jose came along too - he's like one of the main chef's at one of New York's most famous restaurants, Nobu and he wanted to try out the food at Geisha. It's kinda a celebrity hang out.. like actors from 'Desparate Housewives' were eating at the table next to us. Then some other people from 'Making the Band' came and had a business dinner next to us. The bill was ridiculously expensive, luckily I knew this in advance and so I hardly ordered anything so didn't have to pay much at all. Asked our waitress what her story was and she was an actress, came over with nothing but a suitcase four years ago from Boston. It's crazy how hard it is for these people to make it out here, but they endure the struggle. They actually make REALLY good money from waiting in restaurants and can survive comfortably from it from what I hear! Hung around for a bit in the open air area upstairs, but there's so many ridiculously over-done posers in LA.. u know, people with money but poor quality characters, so we left after that. Was an experience to say that i've eaten there i guess, but to be honest, I'm not really comfortable pretending i'm rich and that crowd isn't really for me.. i prefer my more down-to-earth regular people for company!
